Lodi Wine & Chocolate Weekend
Overview and approach
For over twenty years, Lodi Wine & Chocolate has been a signature winter event that features participating Lodi Appellation wineries in a fun and festive environment. With the event having grown significantly over the past years, we worked closely with the Lodi Winegrape Commission to create an event identity that would be memorable for years to come.

Building a brand
Through design and messaging, we created an identity that embodies the event and region’s approachable, yet elevated, atmosphere. Inspired by the passport format of the event, the brand was designed to celebrate the diverse collection of Lodi wineries, and invite attendees to experience a taste of Lodi wine.

The mark
Our approach for the logo itself was to create a humanist aesthetic with hand-drawn type. We led with “Lodi” to emphasize a sense of place and indicate the significance of the region. We utilized a vibrant, contemporary color palette to communicate a fun and festive atmosphere, while remaining timeless and elevated.

Representing Lodi
Throughout the process, we drew inspiration from high-end chocolate packaging–primarily the use of layered elements, paired with decorative patterns–and the personal touch many of the region’s wineries put into their wines.
The line pattern communicates a sense of community and collaboration as an abstracted, aerial view of the Lodi region and abstracted fingerprints of Lodi winemakers.
