Overview and approach
Founded in 2016, Pressley Vineyards is an up-and-coming wine brand dedicated to creating quality wines that can be enjoyed every day. Owned by husband and wife team, Charlie and Brittany Hamilton, we set out to tell their story, bring awareness to the Delta region where their winegrapes are grown, and create a distinct introduction of this new brand.
Creating the brand
Throughout the project, inspiration came from the richness of Brittany and Charlie’s love for farming, winemaking and each other, as well as their familial history. The Pressley Vineyards identity incorporates actual elements from old, historical family documents such as love letters and certificates. The monogram is a balance of Charlie and Brittany – the intricate script “P” represents sophistication, while the “V” is down-to-earth, representing the business’ viticulture focus.
Family of wines
In developing the Albarino and Pinot Noir labels, we took a modern, clean approach to establish credibility for this new product line while nodding to the sophistication of these varietals. Styled as a letter, the back labels focus on the Delta terroir and the aspects that make it an ideal growing climate for the selected varietals.
In Pressley Vineyards’ second vintage we had the opportunity to create the Rosé label–a more whimsical side of the brand. Inspired by Brittany’s love for Rosé, the back label letter was developed as a dedication from Charlie to her that serves to highlight the desirable characteristics of the Rosé’s tasting notes.
Telling a story
Our team continued to add rich layers to the brand through the website by featuring historical maps of the Delta region and celebrating the story of Charlie and Brittany.
We were also excited to take a different approach compared to how wines are often traditionally positioned. With Brittany and Charlie’s goal to make great wines that can be enjoyed every day, we created recommended experiences to pair with each varietal, reflecting the couple’s own interests–whether it’s a barbeque, game night, or a day of boating.
Since the launch of the brand, Pressley Vineyards has quickly grown with the start of their new wine club in 2019 and as a menu feature at select restaurants in California.
